After three years of everyone being cool, a coworker decided to be transphobic in the friday quiz today. I'm devastated, and have no idea how to handle this going forward.

What is a Friday quiz?

We play trivia games (e.g. Kahoot, jackbox.tv) on Fridays for about half an hour to break up the monotony of working from home. Everyone joins a video conference where the game is streamed, and people submit their answers via their web browser.

One of my coworkers decided it'd be funny to submit a slur to the game.

Sorry that you have to experience transphobia in your workplace.

Depends on how your management or company deal with this stuff, the better is trying to raise the question straight forward to keep the ambient. You probably won't change your coworker, but you can say that transphobic remarks/atitudes are not acceptable.

It's tough though, I had a coworker saying to me about "too many colored folks on this floor" and my reaction was just freezing in shock and mumbling "what do u mean?", just to get a shitty answer like "it's a joke" or whatever..

In hindsight, I wish I'd called it out right there and then, but after working there the entire time without incident I was just completely unprepared for something like this to happen.
