It's very cold here for this time of year... I don't like it. I need all the blankets and cups of hot cacao. ʕ ´•̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̺̫̺̥̺̫̺̥̺̫̺̥̺̫̺ ᴥ•̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̨̺̫̺̥̺̫̺̥̺̫̺̥̺̫̺`ʔ

Saw the northern lights for the 3rd time yesterday. Very nice. On the negative side, I'm getting old and prolonged sitting while programming hurts.

Light pollution makes me so angry. I literally can never see the stars.

It was an amazing yet saddening experience the very first time I saw the stars without light pollution. Until then I had no idea how much light pollution there was even in the most remote areas I'd been to previously. There were so. many. stars.

Milky way is really a thing, right?

One day, I tell myself, one day I will start some Astronomy hobby, astrophotography and shit but between broke and anxiety not much left

I don't think I have seen anything that even compares with the milky way. Makes me sad because I never get to see it.

Finally own some land. Going to start building tommorow. Dad seems kinda freaked out as to why I would purposefully decrease my quality of life but whatever. He is extremely useful in critiquing my build plans.

Build a castle with moat and functional drawbridge.

It would kill animals, possibly hurt innocent people plus just staying invisible to the government is so much more effective than doing shit that puts them on your radar like traps.

i'm joking...

moat and drawbridge sounds cool, tho...

lettuceLeafer wrote

See modern moats are a good defense these days not due to water but due to mosquitoes.

And for the castle idea I would rather do more fun things. And it wouldn't even look like a real castle since I don't have access to stone or would want to buy stone.

Funnily enough my current structure would prob be harder to seize than if I build a castle.

How many raddle users would it take to meet up at one location for the FBI to show up. My guess is 4

And set foot on native stolen land? The USA is the biggest lie anyone ever told.

Not going to be paranoid about it, but intoxicated and using this Convo as a mirror, what if we get the map and the territory confused? What if the whole country is waiting people to tear it's roads and lines apart, destroy it's very geographical fabric - burn flags, steal road signs, adopt new (or old) native names.

My job is changing my hours for the 3rd time in a year. More later shifts after each change. Less time with the family after each change. Feel stuck. Living in the city is killing me. I need the money this job pays to get out of the city, but it's killing me. Feel like all I get to do is choose which death I want. If I didn't have a family I'd buy a small piece of land and rough it.

I have had some heated arguments on this site and I hate it, I generally try to be nice and respectful if I argue against something in a post. I think it makes it a more positive and welcoming space.

I think most people here feel the same way but it's too bad not everyone does.

lettuceLeafer wrote

An annoying thing about the raddle is how I can be hard to gauge tone. Like sometimes people on raddle come out of a discussion with me thinking it was an argument when I just thought it was a cool discussion when we were trying to understand each other better. So it's always disappointing when a thread on raddle is really enjoyable and thought provoking for me but due to the more emotionally devoid nature of text the other person feels like I was arguing at them.

metocin wrote

Yeah agreed, I always try to be clear about my tone but even then people may still take it the wrong way just due to the nature of face-to-screen communication.

I woke up in a bad mood that I am just starting to get out of ... maybe. My wife loves to play videos on her phone when she can't sleep so I woke up at 3 in the morning to the sound of TikTok. We've had multiple discussions about how I think this is rude and inconsiderate and how I need sleep but she just doesn't listen. And if I say something during the night she just turns it to the lowest volume and carries on. And if I say something about that she says there is no possible way I can hear it (which is not true obviously). Getting real sick of being ignored.

I started playing guitar again. Just for a couple hours on Sunday mornings when I am alone. I am trying to figure out what I want to play. I think, when I've built up my confidence a little, I want to have a "concert" for a small group of close friends. That's probably a long ways off though. I shared a couple videos yesterday on /f/guitar of some classical pieces I used to enjoy playing. They are out of my reach now but I am thinking of re-learning them maybe. Anyway I know classical guitar isn't everyone's jam but you should check out the Bouree just to see the weird guitar he plays it on.

I mentioned this last Friday I think but I am using Tinder to meet people for platonic friendships. I am meeting someone to play board games this weekend. Kind of weird for me to just cold meet someone but I need more friends, I have like 2 whom I see once every 2-3 months. Hopefully I ain't too awkward, but that's what the board games are for lol.

Does she have earphones? you can buy shitty ones for 20$. The cheaper the better, so you can be passive aggressive when giving them to her :)

Good luck with your board game night :)

6

annikastheory wrote

Well that's a small part of the problem. I don't know if its because she sleeps with them in or what. But she breaks earphones incredibly quickly regardless of quality.

Apparently the site tfd supplies sell earbuds wholesale at 55 cents a piece, it might be satisfying to hand her a bag with 50 pairs of headphones in it.

Probably a little wasteful though so not sure I could feel good about it overall.

Oh something I am super excited about! I got this computer months ago to set up a retro gaming/ streaming set up in my living room. and I finally got around to setting it up and it far exceeds my original plans. Its awesome. Might make a post about it. Short version is there are some amazing extensions for Kodi that allow easy access to the Internet archive rom library and that allow you to stream torrents.

So I like to build/tinker...today I mostly finished a 10×20ft pole carport canopy that I found in a Habor Frieght dumpster. (Woo-hoo dumpsters diving) of course this is after I spent 2.5 days trying to convert this 10x20ft into a 30x20ft because the canopy got cut up before it got put in the dumpster, And I had a 20 by 30 heavy duty tarp laying around. But couldn't do it PVC wasn't strong enough... So I went back to the 10 by 20... I still useed the tarp but went all the way down to the ground on the sidewalls. Then I realized it was kind of hard to move on myself so Put 2 by 4 together to go 20' and put wheels under each foot.... Turned out pretty nice I was pretty proud of it....

But there's always a but... My ADHD is driving me crazy... Cause while I finally finished that... I should have been more diligent about working on the cabinets in the cabinets to get a prime prime and painted to go in the kitchen... Since we havent had any since we moved here a year ago and my girlfriend doesn't like it....

Granted I got the cabinets for free On marketplace I was supposed to be concentrating on building a gantry for my engine chain hoist. So then I can move the transmission out of the back of my truck (that I bought 8 months ago and all it needed was to swap out The bad transmission with the good one that it came with)...

Cause I can't really get any remodeling jobs without a truck... On top of that it's a slow time a year... I'm a year and a 1/2 into starting my own little remodeling business...which was not super successful....we got the bills paid

So I am like 3 weeks behind because I get distracted...man I can't wait to have enough money to go see a doctor and get my Vyvanse script again.

PS. And to top off the stress level.... My shop/shed is not big enough for my supplies and tools so I have stuff in totes and can never find what I need .....

Congratulations getting as much done as you have. Don't let the Wall build, use the feeling of accomplishment to keep going.

On days I don't have my pills I feel good if I do anything at all really. So it sounds amazing to finish something like that.
