Just digressing now, but if they understand nihilism and realistic optimism as diagonal opposites, they are missing the whole point of why nihilism is "useful" (struggling to find a better word).
For me, nihilism is a rejection of every certainty, and every doubt at the same time. A rejection to the core, and doing so one can recover a certain freedom. I don't approach nihilism as an arid and lifeless place, but to the contrary a space where we can create and grow.
So maybe we can manage to have a nihilism compatible with realistic optimism, but at the end those are just ideologies, someone's Inner mind&desires . I think the person who did this comment was dissatisfied with Raddle for not feeding his previous beliefs
