I've been exploring Raddle and saw the book Desert mentioned a couple times, so I read it yesterday.

I liked it a lot. Reading such a realist/cynical take on climate change was refreshing. It might sound weird but it gave me a bit of hope since it focused on survival and not stopping an impending apocalypse.

I'm new to anarchist thought, so some of it probably went over my head. But it was a good read.

I want to engineer a fungus that rapidly eats all concrete

I doubt a fungus would want to chomp concrete. But maybe it could naturally secrete substances that deteriorate concrete? Also Portland concrete is allergic to salt water.

You better hope that fungus is easy to walk on, otherwise they'll have no choice but to poison it, harvest and sell it in the supermarket

that would be less than ideal but i'd still be glad of the disruption. just in it for the villiany at this point lol

Petition to rename this thread Thirsty Thursdays and talk about conserving or sourcing water resources.

Y'all ever zone out and listen to music while playing solitaire for 80 minutes? Just me? Okay.

I got a deadline to meet at work. Not looking forward to working on that project.

I guess that is why they call me a masochist.

Being the related to the title, I really miss going to munches! Hopefully they'll restart now that vaccines are coming through.

munches? what is?

It's a casual vanilla meetup of kinksters, usually at a restaurant/pub/ etc, some sort of public venue. Usually an easy, safe, and comfortable way of getting into the local link scene.

Ah, that's such a cute name! I don't have much kink community around here that I'm connected with, but I think after the vaccines and life stabilizing a bit, I'd love to go a club with a partner.

why wouldn’t it be?

some people (me) would rather not see BDSM front in center after opening up Raddle,,,

zoom_zip wrote

as in... the letters “BDSM”?

4

Ashy wrote

it's nasty and off-topic, it has no purpose here.

zoom_zip wrote

why is it nasty and off topic?

4

Ashy wrote

it's nasty cause getting off on others' pain is yikes and it's off-topic cause this isn't a porn site..

−1

zoom_zip wrote

no porn was posted

what if it’s part of a consensual relationship and both parties enjoy the sexual dynamic?

4

Ashy wrote

that's fine, i just don't want to see or hear about it

it's not pron but it's still a sexual topic pinned to the top of literally everyone's raddle, which i think is immature and gross

DeletedButArchived wrote

Don't feel required to explain but it would be interesting to understand why you don't like seeing BDSM?

Ashy wrote

why would I like seeing it?

This is a leftist space so it's weird when people take offence about people making a joke about the kind of sex they like. Hell, if it was a convo about peoples BDSM experiences I wouldn't care.

You seem to be making a claim that people who have nontraditional sexual preferences should shut up about it on one of the few spaces it's okay be be openly unto BDSM so you can be spared the awful sight of the letters BDSM.

Also, it seems you have some hangup about how women have sex with a concerning partner which comes off a little misogynistic too.

I'm not like calling you out or anything but I'm struggling to find a reason for your complaint that isn't kinda problematic. But like common, your response to a queer woman saying the name of a sexual fetish is to complain about it being nasty and how she needs to shut up gives off "I'm offended if people don't have conservative values" vibe.

not really,,, whatever you're into with a consenting partner/partners is fine, i'm personally just grossed out by sex in general, and don't think the front page of raddle is the best place to talk about it

I'm also a woman lol
I don't care how other people have sex in the slightest. I just, don't want to hear about it first thing I open up raddle?

sorry if it came off that way
