I am a chapo refugee. Really enjoying raddle but do wish it was a bit more active

Same. I'm sticking around to try to help address that chicken and egg problem.

raddle is never going to hit critical mass because its inhabited by people that don't want to share the space with libs

you can't radicalize someone if they're not welcome in the first place though. seems like a problem that needs to be addressed.

reddit is going to be on the decline shortly now that leftists aren't welcome. by getting rid of the best shit posters they've cut off what they thought was a malignant growth, but was actually just a benign lump that they're slowly going to bleed out from, and raddle could be the paper towels that absorb all that blood, if they're willing.

Most of the people here see raddle as a private club and any time refugees show up, raddlers go out of their way to shun them and demand the ghettoization of their corner of raddle, and eventually its full removal when the refugees fail to integrate (due to the ghettoization of their community).

The only way to fix it is to ignore the wishes of the people already here, so then they all leave in protest (has happened several times already), driving the overall traffic on the site low enough that yet more people leave due to inactivity. It's a lose lose situation.

I must confess on one of my guilty pleasures:

I used to visit r/cth occasionally, to get that weird hate-boner looking at these demsocs trying to cosplay hardcore tankies.

Now, after they got banned on reddit, I hoped they will stay here, so I could keep my dirty habit.

basic leftists are too easily controlled to see past the propaganda they're being fed, they'll join the chapo.chat cult when the people making it finally figure out how to make lemmy work, and the tank mods will either turn them into third positionists or purge them for failing to turn.

even the more anarchist leaning chapos like marxmouth are basic as shit. that one tried to buy me with $5 a month on my patreon and then pulled it away and ragequit the instant I talked back.

should have never wasted 2 hours writing this up to try and address their bullshit concerns.

The issue with chapos? Their politics are shit and people who have been here for a while have far more evolved politics, which creates elitism.

  1. An admin hid the forum from the front page due to complaints from old users, which kills any chance of reaching critical mass because refugees will check the front page, see nothing about chapo and lots of posts with no comments, and go right back to reddit to tell everyone "raddle is dead".

  2. Another admin started banning chapos for saying 'crazy' which gives both the communism.lemmy.ml and chapo.chat owners lots of handy propaganda to smear raddle with.

  3. I filled f/cth with anti-tankie memes because tankies were mass downvoting me as part of their usual entryist tactics (and I'm petty af). I made clear tankies will never get modded on raddle, which made the tankies tell everyone on discord and reddit that raddle is anti-communist (and dead) and that chapo.chat was the only option. I then made an account to fake-invite chapos to chapo.chat just so I could mock their pink hammer and sickle and shit on them some more, hoping my counter-propaganda would at least get the more anarchist leaning chapos to stay.

At this point I've given up trying to get through the chapo discord propaganda machine to promote raddle as a chapo replacement. The discord and its 10,000 members all being fed "left unity" propaganda by their tankie overlords is really not penetrable at this point, so I just want to hurt chapo.chat as much as I can before it turns 10k demsocs into raging stalin fetishists.

I knew something is off about this "b-but that's not left unity..." comment! Felt... artificial... Well played.

a real tankie would have found a way to purge all of us from our own site

Seeing it like that makes it appear premeditated lol. This is what unity in action looks like.

Maybe. I feel welcome here and will probably stay, but I'm also not opposed to sharing space with some libs.

i had an account for a while, but i just never came here more often until now. i was never really a chapo guy. but after that sub got banned, i just got tired of reddit's treatment towards leftist subs. so i migrated here

Less tankies here the better. I'd rather not work with someone who'd shoot me and fellow anarchists as soon as we set up a "revolutionary" state.

eh, we're not really working here, not most of us. Some of the /f/illegalist people are working, some of the wiki editors and mods and admins are working, i've been putting off some work, but for the most part we are just hanging out and talking here. Which is great, and much better than working all the time, because ironically it's productive to shoot the shit with people who share important differences from you so you can keep an eye on each other and build a little informal trust.

if it's consensual, it's really not a bad thing, and ends up being the oil which avoids friction and conflict down the line.

It just so happens that was election time recently. We were discussing economics at work, too make the story short, I mention my skepticism that several economic promises will not work and the only bandaid (salary increase) is unpalatable to the powers that be. At this point there's a pause... then he says "So you're saying all this is impossible and useless" which took me aback, I wasn't expecting to get there so fast and blunt.

Sadly, I couldn't take it further but we completed disproving the notion that prices can go down across the board by mentioning lots of real life examples of price manipulation.

I think that's a great starting point to operate from. A lot of folks assume it's a dead-end point.

Yeah, as it turns out, the body does not like to have quick transitions OR to be in one position for too long. Needs to make up its damn mind.
