Language(s) and linguistics

A forum for articles, resources, discussions, and questions that concern language and linguistics. A broad area, this can include everything from language's interaction with politics, oppression, and justice, to thoughts about the pronunciation or usage of a particular word in an individual language.

However, posts that concern the practice of learning a {2nd, 3rd, ... } language, on one hand, and that of constructing artificial languages, on the other, are encouraged to be made in their more specific forums, unless they have broader consequences or interest: f/LanguageBuddies, and f/glossopoeia or f/Conlangs.
