In Inuit culture, sipiniq refers to a person who is believed to have changed their physical sex at birth, but whose gender is treated as being the same as their perceived original sex.

We are aware that indigenous people globally and even within nation-state constructurs are not a homogenous group and this is not an attempt to represent them as a whole - only a space to showcase some of the struggles and concerns of indigenous people globally in hopes that as the forum grows it will multiply and speak to specific groups and their needs/desires.
