As u/Tequila_Wolf noted, "native" is not widely accepted outside of a North American context. Other alternatives seemed wanting: "aboriginal" - mainly associated with Aus. (and considered offensive?), "first peoples" - unambiguous, but perhaps too close to "primative", "original peoples" - a bit lengthy, "indigene" - easier spelling, but uncommon variant, and seems kinda creepy

"Indigenous" seems like the most widely used term worldwide
