Does anyone have experience with scuttlebutt (ssb)?

For reference I've been using mastodon so I'm a bit experienced with that, and ssb looks pretty neat but i'm kind of at a loss with what's worth joining or looking at, and where to start.

Also I'm wondering if it's worth it if I'm using mastodon already. What sets it apart?

I just joined. It's not as busy as it's very new, and it's made to create networks of friends, but if you join a pub you can find more randos.
