I agree, unfortunately humanity is taking most other species with it. The carbon cycle we have pushed the Earth into is the one that leads to most organic material sequestered under the oceans after all above ground carbon sources are dead from the heat. The Permian/Triassic extinction event is probably a good example of what we are looking at. Humanity might be able to dig deeper and faster than the creatures from that era whose fossils were found cooked to death in their burrows, but it is doubtful we will survive.
