Sounds like a political move to me... most “farmers” in France owns massive amounts of land and can deal with a bad season. But they also tend to vote far right and Macron surely loves to get their votes..

Maybe true. But these "quite exceptional" events are going to become more normal and this is collapse.

Growing up in France I heard of these “quite exceptional” events every year. Some years it was too much rain, sometimes, not enough. Other years, too cold, some other too hot.. Dont get me wrong, I am aware that the climate is going nuts but this is not an example of the world’s collapse.

So they're growing stuff they shouldn't be? Or is it all a lie?

I am not sure I understand the question. Talking about stuff “they shouldn’t be growing” this very short article specifically talks about vineyards, probably one of the most polluting crops to grow while not being a absolute necessity, to say the least.

I was asking whether the ecosystem is actually capable of supporting these crops or if cold snaps and droughts are far too common and they shouldn't be grown at all. Obviously, industrial agriculture is an abomination period.
