Lots of people are asking for alternatives. I tried to link them to raddle, but it looks like reddit started to censor the word 'raddle' so none of the comments went through.

𝓻𝓪𝓭𝓭𝓵𝓮.𝓶𝓮 seems to get around the censorship, at least it's showing up in my private test sub. I'll try linking people to it.

I managed to get here from some smart person learning to break up the URL with spaces. So far that seems to still work.

They put the sub into lockdown so every comment from unapproved users has to be manually approved by a mod.

honestly, someone should contact the mods. if we are lucky, they will put raddle.me/f/chapotraphouse in the sidebar and/or a pinned post

I got here through a link in a chapo2 thread. First time I've ever heard of this place

Think they'll ban chapo2 as well?

I personally got here through r/COMPLETEANARCHY, and I saw a recommendation for people to come here when that's inevitably banned as well. If they're looking specifically at ChapoTrapHouse, then we could direct people to another sub from there, then direct them to here from that other sub?

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChapoTrapHouse/comments/bpc7tt/mods_should_link_some_alternatives_to_the_site/enrepf3/ looks like the mods want to go with discord as a backup instead. I fail to see how discord isn't just gonna ban us as well when we get too big for comfort.

worst part is that their discord requires a phone verified account from what i've read. So not only do you have to use a capitalist product, but you also have to give out identifying information... assuming you even have a phone.

Terrible move on the part of the CTH mods.

i may be wrong then, was basing the info off a comment i read. Either way, not my style to use discord. Riot/matrix is perfectly good and cool.

my theory is that the more techie popular platforms don't get mainstream use because the UI is always the last consideration. Riot has become a much better client since the initial launch, but when it first came out the UI was a nightmare to use. With discord, a couple of clicks and boom everything is up and running.

I reckon if there's ever going to be a widely adopted, privacy focused open source chat platform, it'll have to release with a solid UI/UX design from the very start.

Setting up matrix is now easier than most other apps. There are several non-tech people in the raddle chatroom that are quite happy with it.

If you read a couple of threads you automatically encounted mentions of this place, so it worked out for me.

Just post about it, hopefully some people will see, who'll tell other people...

I hope the Reddit sub isn't banned. After looking around, I don't think the culture of that sub matches this website. This place is far too precious and celebrates wokescold nonsense. I'm gone.
