Maybe I'm just hopelessly old, but I joined the Discord on the day of the ban and really can't see it as any kind of discussion platform, it's essentially a Twitch chat with thousands of people spamming emojis at once

It's more of a hangout space for zoomers. I like the Reddit clone thing Raddle has going on but the population isn't exactly there

this is the most frustrating thing. You see people have created a technically great space, it has all the logistics worked out, and yet many do not come. whether it's because they were told not to by ideologue buzzkills, or inertia, or whatever, there remains regardless a social vacuum which is so close, yet so far from being filled.

i am beginning to think we might consider taking ads out for this place. i wish i had more money, to throw at this problem like the reddit admins and instagram overlords of this earth.

Every time these losers say "raddle is dead" to discourage people from coming here, they show how utterly consumerist they are. They only care about consuming other people's work (memes and shitposts in this case), and if there isn't enough content for them to consume, they take their "business" elsewhere (to another corporate portal - discord). Fuck em. They were only ever going to wear their politics as a shallow identity and not actually contribute anything anyway.

hm, this is a good point, however the overwhelming majority of forum users are lurkers, or people who upvote and downvote only without regularly contributing.

raddle's ratio is really quite good in comparison, but the price is that we are small and don't have a big reach to those people. i find that kind of a shame, because this is the place i hang out and its nice when others come in and share it respectfully, but i can see why there are alternative perspectives that you and others have. it's just that, i like to see front page stuff with triple digit engagement, because it means there's a critical mass where people can engage with the content here on our wiki, which might be interested in joining a free school class or reading club, etc.

but that kind of quantification logic, unfortunately, is definitely connected to domestication and dominant culture psychology/indoctrination, so i'll acknowledge it isn't everything and shouldn't be a goal unto itself.

Agree, and that is the why most of this people is an easy target to tankies, they are expecting some guidance. is much easier to consume ideas than came Up with your own.
