Wrooong. At least in Romania. You are always stopped if you set off the alarm, and they always ask you to open your bag/backpack if you have any. And no you can't just say pretend not to hear them and walk away. They will chase you, they will force you, you can't just do that. Idk where y'all live, but that's the case in every single store I've been. It only happened to me once and luckily, I wasn't even lifting I was buying stuff, but I had some old soda bottle in there so :
Yeah the good thing about it tho, you can just buy something cheap from other store and take it with you. You keep the receipt, then when you steal stuff, you make sure it's not on the top or anywhere visible and show them the receipt. They won't search too much tho just ask you to open it a little and don't put their hands, so something that doesn't look big but has a lot of room on the inside is best uwu

Of course you can be called back if you set off the alarms.

Depending on laws in your country, (in mine) they (store staff) can't legally force you to open your bag to look inside. Police, can.

Walk out of the store at the same time as others (especially those with a trolley load). They will usually get hauled up first, and then just keep walking like you got nothing. CONFIDENCE is the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of lifting IMO.

GOOD LUCK!
