So I visited Targets and Walmarts and I usually see some of their most expensive stuff in locked cabinets. There are two ways one can try to take the items:

  1. Ask an employee to take them out and make a fake promise to pay them later after they got some other stuff.

  2. Buy a key necessary to open the lock and get the goods.

Has anyone tried these strategies? How did they go?

first one won’t work. they will always tell you to pay for it in the tech area. not sure about the second option. you would have to know someone that works there to get a copy of the key.

I was told that you can buy the keys online. Dimple keys, tubular keys, etc.

I find it hard to believe they don’t all have their own set of unique keys, if that’s what you’re implying

I think the locks are easy and if you get really good at it (lots of practice and lockpickinglawyer lmao) it can be done.. but I assume those areas are always under surveillance and it’ll be hard to miss someone all shady, moving hands, right at the glass?

I've had multiple successes with #1 at Walmart. Not sure if I just look upstanding enough.
