It’s been proven with indisputable facts that almost 50% of shrinkage is internal.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the retail game. But I was in it from childhoood to early adulthood. Big chains invest most of their budget to tackle internal theft. And it’s for good reason. I saw more coworkers get made than customers.

I don’t see that changing, tbh. Regardless of the media scare tactics. Most customers are still abiding by the “honor” code of paying.

I’m not suffering from anything.

I’m legit basing my opinion that internal theft is a bigger priority to retailers based on the very well known ones I worked for in the past. Along with what I’ve seen employers of other retailers specifically bemoan about.

Of course, I was never in the upper echelon to know the figures and exactly how much money was allocated to tackle internal theft. Nor did I ever claim to be. But the incentivized programs put in place to get employees to narc on one another is another example of how seriously these corps take internal theft. They don’t want to pay you a salary while you simultaneously rob them blind. It becomes personal.
