Got some cheapo cartons that I've lifted without fully thinking through how I would actually get them sold online or locally. I have 20-some bottles of dollar store wine I also grabbed just to scratch my itch which definitely have to be a local transaction. Is it too risky to throw out a Craigslist ad once a week or so and hope to get a quick bite that's legit before the posts are flagged?

Oof, what's with the downvotes? I miss something?

I'm guessing(?) people are against selling things as addictive as cigarettes? Strange hill to die on though. Personally I think an understanding of how esp tobacco industry marketing is gross can coexist with an acknowledgement of individual agency

I feel like the Craigslist thing should be okay? Not that I know. It's not as if they're illegal. I def wouldn't disclose the full amount you have up front tho, in case that's not intuitive; it seems plausible to be "quitting" and want to sell your stash, but 20 bottles is a lot for a stash

I wonder if you could do some sort of return scam?

Tobacco and alcohol products cannot be returned in most states (in the US. Don't know about elsewhere).

They're not great things to lift if you don't have IRL means of moving them.

I would say putting ads on CL for controlled substances (like tobacco and alcohol) is super risky. I used to sell beer and cigarettes on the street after the bars closed, but I can't suggest that as a less risky alternative. I never got caught, but I only stayed out there for 30-50 minutes at a time and only did it about ten times. That said, I made a lot of money doing it, since people will pay a high markup on alcohol when they don't have anywhere else to get it. (I did charge on a "sliding scale" - douchebags paid double what I'd charge the friendly people.)
