Submitted by madmars in antiwork (edited )

Hello! I'm a former mod of the Anti-Work subreddit and discord. I've come here to do an AMA and offer some insight into the internal drama and such and give my opinions on the whole situation.

I do want to get a few questions out of the way:

Q: Why didn't you stop the interviewee? A: I, along with the vast majority of the other mods, strongly advised against the Fox interview and I personally advised talking to media at all.

Q: Are you an anarchist? A: I'm an egoist anarchist and anti-civ (not anprim) and all that, just wanted to get that out of the way so people know my political stuff.

Alright I thought I'd have more pre-questions but I can't think of anything lol

I guess its just a case of always had using it in the past and having many connections as well as never really caring that much tbh, though I'm obviously not going to post stuff that would actually get me in trouble on not secure platforms.

The last few days have been full of a lot of internal drama and stuff. I'm fairly emotionally disconnected from the "anti-work" brand after I realized the majority of the mod team at this point is frankly completely uninterested in its concept past a few individuals that are constantly targetted or ganged up on by the other mods.

Other then that I've been fine, after the fallout and brigading stress everything else has been like honey XD

Oh hey, I know a lot of people were wondering what happened to you. I was Mars/ComaCrow (which I'm only okay with saying due to the current mod team being kinda "led" by someone who hates me already lol)

Hi welcome :)

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

Got any cool obscure text to recommend? If not, what was your most recent favorite read?

If you had to do it all again, what would you change? I know it's a little too hot/fresh to really have thought about it enough for now but eh.

I'm not sure, I was mostly one of the discord mods but joined the reddit to help with the brigading (though I planned on joining the reddit anyway and just never got around to it).

My favorite icecream flavor is chocolate but I havent eaten chocolate in over a year.

I like Black Seed Volume 1

I'd probably be a little more tactical and laying low but the problems were very much things out of my control. A team that put all their trust into a contrapoints mod that made anti-antiwork posts for six months to "save them" and an owner who veto'd any proposals to try and help educate the influx of new people. Overall just incompetence and apathy

I was banned on the discord by a rouge admin (who also admitted to cyber-stalking me) after I dealt the brigaders by myself for hours while they were online but did nothing (And were generally inactive that entire month anyway UNTIL the day the head mod resigned).

I was recently taken off the reddit team and while I was never given a reason I feel its due to the current "lead visionary" for team (the mod who made the reconstructing post) spreading discord and distrust among all the mods behind everyone's back to try and get more power as that's something happening to the other mods that I'm still in contact with

If given the chance to become an antiwork mod again, would you?

Honestly nah. A notable amount of the team is very apathetic or outright supportive of the dilution (which was encouraged/allowed by the head mod at the time) and it just felt generally toxic.

The fact that now the actual modteam has started to turn against anarchism due to some recent infiltration and the community overall is very aggressive towards anarchism due to the interview it seems like a failed experiment and no longer something I wish to spend my time on.

I feel that while I can see this being fine for something more casual and smaller scale, the moment the sub got big it should have been overhauled. We see this issue with the new visionary/psuedo-lead mod calling themselves an anarchist and such but once you start digging into it or asking for something deeper it becomes more than clear they don't support literally one thing about anarchism (Even less then most "baby anarchists") and this is something that would have been more than apparent (along with their long and recent disdain for anti-work) if the mod team had just looked at their twitter before giving them their trust and power.

I very much agree they just want powermods, this is something that becomes even funnier when you realize the latest mods they added that offered to "save the sub" are self proclaimed powermods that compared people complaining about powermods to "people just wanting to say the N word" (and yes I have receipts for that)

I mostly had left this behind because its internet drama so whatever but I got a little update on whats happened since I got removed.

Turns out all the mods votes to kick out EphaerlStern and in response the current topmod kicked pretty much everyone out that voted on kicking her out. So yeah that sub lost any chance of being worthwhile lol
