And I'm already a worse worker. Its amazing how caffeine makes capitalism possible.

I noticed a new keurig machine in my office today and it really got me thinking about how much caffeine is accepted in the "professional" workplace when things like small children and naps are not.

I'm trying to wean myself off. I'm down to one cup of coffee every morning down from two cups every morning and usually one in the afternoon/early evening (since I work the evening shift). Almost a week in and I'm still feeling like total dogshit. My job is pretty laid back though, so I can manage. I think I'm sleeping better.

It get's easier. I found it hard for the first couple weeks, especially when it's freely available to me at my job. I'm off it now and I feel much better. Sometimes I'll get a little tired at work but it usually passes after a little bit.

I also don't think I was any more productive while caffeinated doing school work because often I would just get hyperfocused on something unrelated. People talk about stimulants being some sort of magical cure for ADHD but that has not been my experience lol.

Coffee really didn't help my attention and I can definitely relate to hyperfocus... You mean I'm not supposed to focus on YouTube for 8 hours, while at work... and then apologising for "working late".
But long acting dexamphetamines are like magic, for me.

I have listened anarchists for over 15 years and I never could get my mind into gear to care. I really believed I was a shitty person, because I would never do anything. My motto was "if at first you don't succeed, lower your standards".

It was nice to find a way to get the motivation to care.

But that's for me. Not trying to force it on others.

Read a book on the history of Guatemala. It's crazy what global capitalism will do to secure its supply of coffee. The CIA organized THREE coups d'état there in the 20th century just to ensure they could get their coffee flowing to their workers/consumers.

Coffee, bananas, and oil. Thats the history of US involvement in central america. Guate is a lovely place, lovely people, shitty national politics.
