Contrary to popular belief, human well-being has declined substantially as a result of civilization. Civilization has led to:

  • The creation of poverty itself, characterized by the inability to meet one's basic needs for survival. Evidence shows that a substantial proportion of societies and civilizations after the creation of agriculture, were systematically and frequently unable to meet their basic needs for survival. This applies even for the 21st century world we live in. - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,

  • The worst diseases that humans have ever experienced - 1, 2 - see page 2, 3.

  • Nutritional declines, declines in stature

  • The creation of hierarchy - 1, 2, 3, 4.

  • The fall in social status of women/The creation of patriarchy - 1 - this summary may be of use, 2, 3.

What are your thoughts on the pros and cons of civilization? Do you think this is an accurate assessment?
