I've been thinking about this lately and the way that my critique of civilisation can largely be reframed in terms of a critique of extractivism.

(here, extractivism includes agriculture, as a soil-depleting, resource-depleting mode of existence, which in turn becomes the basis for a growth-oriented society - malignant rather than benign.

Anyway, since a lot of us are green anarchists, but I think some of us haven't read Kaczynski, I just wanted to mention that it's worthwhile. It has got many problems but you can read it for what works.

If you do want to look into it, here are some entry points:

Bellamy talked about him in an accessible and useful introductory way in this podcast.

Immediatism did audio for Industrial Society and Its Future it in parts, starting here.
Another person did it as a single whole here.

Ironically, Netflix has a (probably highly innaccurate and ideologically warped) series about it from the cop perspective the doesn't go much into the politics while also having it's characters say 'we all have a little bit of ted in us', called Manhunt: Unabomber. Aside from the part where they portrayed him in just one episode as secretly wanting to be 'normal', it was watchable if you're looking for something to watch. I would love to hear from people who know better all the ways it is innacurate.

After all that, there's the book that he continues to work on and update from prison - Anti-Tech Revolution, the first edition is available freely here, the second edition that came out just last year is not.

I read it, it's worthwhile. I'll get my hands on that Anti-Tech Revolution book someday hopefully.
