I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't even want to live in this world if they couldn't consume and then trash useless junk all day everyday. I think we underestimate just how much people like capitalism. They would not be happy in an egalitarian society. They've been so thoroughly conditioned into disposable culture that they would never want to part with it.
