If anybody reads "A Handful of Objections: A Response to a Proposal for Desertion", I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Hopefully gonna read that and the Wolfi piece on science sometime.

Thanks for posting throwaparade.

I read that kidYELLOW response a while ago and have since been recommending it as a supplementary read to Bellamy Fitzpatrick's desertion as an intro to contemporary anti-civ thought. Together, they offer a rough overview of how anti-civ anarchists approach the critique of civilization, as well as pointing out some open questions, and empty promises (things like world-soul, self-conscious animality; assumed harmony in face-to-face, autarkic communities of kinship) that weaken the critique.

When written like this, objections are valuable. But they came a bit late. Bellamy's invitation functioned as a sort of salutatory for a journal that ended too soon, to set the tone and give a general idea of where the project was going. Unfortunately, it's not gone very far. In that context, the objections appear a bit pedantic. To put it another way, one could easily critique kidYELLOW's objections in a similar manner, sketching out all sorts of oppositions and objections on the few grounds that were left unexamined.
