I know someone that went on Birthright, they said it was one big brainwash attempt.

The sad thing is how vehemently people that move over there will defend being settlers. These are people from upper middle class backgrounds that have no reason to be taking land from brown people, but honestly believe that they have a right to their land. I'm always speechless when Americans defend becoming a settler. They always try to say "the Palestinians weren't using the land anyway, it was just going to waste". I mean, wtf does that mean?

If you look at the propaganda they feed them, it's focused a lot on Israel's 'superior technology' that 'greens the desert'. All this really is, of course, is Israel pumping water away from Palestinians so that settlers can have their luxurious landscaping for a few decades (until the wells run dry).

But they convince these liberal American/European kids that if they move to the settlements, they'll be contributing to this magical progressive movement that turns a lifeless desert into a prosperous paradise.

They always promote this narrative that the Palestinians are these stupid desert wandering hobos that never tried to build any kind of a society on their land, while Israel is this grand thriving metropolis that the Palestinians are super jealous of because they can't create anything themselves.

Meanwhile, whenever the Palestinians manage to build anything their meagre earnings, Israel bombs it all to bits.
