Great text, concise and visceral. Anthropocentrism is a disease of the mind. IDK how you can look at a cow and arbitrate "levels of intelligence" as a justification to murder. Even if a creature isn't intelligent, which all animals certainly are, is it justified to hurt it?

I think that human life is inherently more important than animal life but the slaughter and torture of animals is completely unnecessary, cruel, and damaging to all involved.

I would rather one mouse die than one human die, I would rather one monkey die than one human. Unless that human is a nazi.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mouse but if I was stranded in a forest and had to kill and eat an animal to survive, I would. Luckily i don't think I will ever be in that situation.

Animals do not need to be tortured and killed for humans to thrive, animal consumption is no "necessary evil". But I do believe that human life trumps animal life because well.. I'm a bit of a humanist.

The vegan complaint about "speciesism" is where veganism gets a little too "pagan religion" for me.
