Universal veganism wouldn’t stop the road-building, logging, urban and suburban development, pollution, resource consumption, and other forms of land transformation that kills animals by the billions.

Ok I’ll stop telling people universal veganism can protect us from an alien invasion 😜

Any nonpeaceful alien invasion is going to go terribly for earthlings.

It also reminds me of the plot of the movie The Fantastic Planet where humans were being raised by aliens as pets.

I like when the Draags go in meditation to fuck telepathically other Beings across the galaxies.

from my perspective this author reduces the concept/behaviors of vegans to a few specific strict definitions and motivations - i believe vegan culture is far more diversified and nuanced than is presented here

I think the main point here is to say that veganism, as today, is not synonym as animal liberation and is not synonym of anti-anthropocentrism. That one "need" a step further to really work towards liberation.

That's i mean though - while there may be a large swath of the vegan population that does fall into the flawed thinking the author describes (not considering other oppressing factors besides physical resource consumption), i know there are people who identify as "vegans" who do take an authentic animal liberation approach.

I think the author's point is interesting and important, but i just wanted to clarify that it's a little reductionist. Just would have appreciated a little more nuance / acknowledgement that this doesn't apply to all people who participate in veganism...

Totally agree, i think it is one of the downsides of going mainstream, the misinterpretation of the ideas. It is "funny" (not really tho) to see some people who are learning about animal liberation and they set hierarchies in their head, like anthropoids, pets, mammals, large animals etc.

I tend to mistrust activism™ as a dedicated activity, not because of the people involved, sometimes they are the most passionated and giving persons you can find, but the whole milleu is very framed by martyrdom ideation, intolerance, and lots of repacked christianity. Regular folks who are about to take the redpill and step forward in veganism sometimes get upset by what a vegan activism looks like.
