I made homemade seitan steaks. They were awful. My husband loved them but I felt like I was eating raw dough. I need to try again because it's so much cheaper than buying vegan fake meats in the store.

A change in flour might help, I've had more success with whole wheat than white. The catch is whole wheat flour has less gluten and results in a smaller yield.

You have my interest, I've been wanting to try making it from scratch instead of premade gluten flour.

It's one of those recipes that's hard to get looking restaurant good, but tastes great regardless.

First I mixed regular flour and gluten flour together, so when I washed It, the dough didnt reached a good consistency.

Then when I went to the point of boilin It I mixed some garlic and spices because someone told me this would season the Seitan for further use. Big mistake I needed to throw away the entire batch almost 2kg of flour (another mistake, I started without testing the technique).

My culinary skills stil are basic and set to survival, like proletarian guerrila/wageslave survival or working mom, but I really enjoy my time on the kitchen, specially if I am sharing the moment with my friends.
