Are some judges voted for? How are federal prosecutors chosen, and are all state prosecutors elected or just some states?

According to the Constitution, appointments to the Supreme Court and to the lower federal courts are made by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, though presidents have rarely consulted the Senate before making a nomination.

Edit: I'd like to think if it were democratic, Brett Kavanaugh wouldn't have been elected/appointed. But perhaps I have too much faith in society.

In my area,we elect our judges at the county level. Thats the lowest level. There are no city judges.
