On May the 17th 2020, hundreds of anarchists connected online through mumble, riot.im, irc and other formats for a wonderful day of anarchy. While most of the events focused on the tumultuous global situation from anarchist perspectives, there was also a grief space, a dance party, tablers, and more, which all contributed to an interesting and overall fulfilling experience. It was an enjoyable day despite not getting to see everyone faces, and was an encouraging example of the possibilities of online events.
Towards the end of the evening we hosted a screening of Pom Poko. As of writing this post, the movie has been viewed around 100 times, with about half of those happening simultaneously during the premiere. Safe to say that it was our best attended premiere yet! The chat (which can be joined at any time, linked at the bottom of every page) was very lively and led to some interesting discussions on morality, violence, spectacular action, and raccoon dog nuts. It was very encouraging to see some goals of this site realized, and hearing praise is never a bad thing. Now, hopefully someone who attended will write a review!
Thanks to everyone involved for making it such a success, hope we can all meet face to face some day.
