I have seen Casablanca. I watched it for the first time in my mid 30s, and it was a surreal experience. The film feels like a string of clichés. Except, of course, the problem is just that I'm watching this film at 35 and watched the dozens or hundreds of films that copied it and parodied it at a younger age.
I've only seen Metropolis out of those, and twice I have not finished watching it. Usually because people around me get bored, but I don't watch movies by myself so I guess I'll never end up seeing the end of it. Really liked some of the class conscious imagery in those beginning scenes though.
