I love Euphoria! Sam is able to very accurately present Gen Z transition into young adulthood with social media, drug culture, and regular old relationships.

However, they do romanticize drug abuse too much. And the drunk driving scene in episode 1 of season 2 was hella irresponsible.

I always find that criticism wierd. Yes the characters romanticize drug use but the show has a pretty blatant warning against drug use as it's message. I mean a major theme of it is about how rue mist make the choice between basically everything good in her life or drugs and when you chooses drugs has serious consequences. From almost dying, unable to have a solid relationship with Jules, traumatizing her sister, messing up her relationship to her mom, hurter her friend Lexi, doing a bunch of things she regrets yada yada. Sure the portrays drugs as great and amazing but it's hard to believe her as the whole show portrays a path of her hurting those she cares about, screwing up her life and having even more looming consequences.

An this goes in and on, when Maddie and Cassie did molly Cassie embarrassed herself, had a public mental breakdown and other decisions she regretted. Maddie embarrassed Nate in from of his whole family and lead to being assaulted. Not her fault but it follows the consistent message of drug use then punishment.

This is so true for fezco, he has all kinds of messed up stuff happen to him and doesn't have a super great life due to being surrounded by drug world.

Again with the high speed car situation by the end of the episode didn't have any direct consequences but the risky life decisions of both these characters by the end of the episode came back o bite them.

Okay let's take the straight man of the cast who doesn't do drugs Lexie. She has problems but nothing nearly close to the consequences of the others. Plus she was one of the few to actually be better off by the end o the episode.

While I do see your point I don't think they take it far enough. They still make it seem sexy and fun (Beyond of course the OD scene with Rue and Gina, I think that was the most well made). But this is my personal opinion because I've seen my close friends and my parents go down those paths and I'm annoyed by any positive portrayal of drug use. And not from a prudish perspective mind you, I've attended NA and am familiar with the scene.

It just simply wouldn't be good television for say, Rue to snot rocket out a chunk of sinus tissue after snorting. But hey, we'll see where the second season takes us.
