Hey all, I'm super new here so please let me know if this isn't the right place to post about this.

I recently posted some stuff on Reddit regarding more actionable ideas on how to fight for a neutral net. The main thrust of my concepts has been to hold the profit hostage. These corporations want to control what we see and interact with online as well as make more money from our use, and ultimately this will strangle the internet--a resource that when used properly acts to connect people globally across divides.

I believe fighting for a neutral net or creating our own net is imperative to the overall fight against hierarchy and corporate control, and the increasing number of obvious and not-obvious manipulations of information that I've been seeing is worrisome in the extreme.

Well, I believe at least one of my posts on Reddit was removed in a way as to make the submitters unaware--i think it's called shadowbanning?--And now I'm sort of freaking out. Am I paranoid, or was that removed because the ideas are dangerous and they don't want them visible to a large audience?

If I am just being paranoid, why would the post be removed in such a way? I was under the impression that these types of removals were supposed to only occur with repeat-offender users who were harassing others or being vile, in order to prevent them from making alt accounts and doing it again.

If I'm not being paranoid, what can we do? This sort of thing makes me feel isolated and alone, without the ability to connect with others who share both my fears and dreams for the internet and it's place in our future.

If there are groups of people out there working to fight underhanded and insidious spread of misinformation, suppression of information, and other methods of manipulation employed by big tech and ISPs to further control the people, well I want to be a part of that group/movement. But if the internet is no longer a good way to find those people 've a use of this phenomenon, I feel at a loss.

Maybe I'm just freaking out and it's really not as bad as all that, but can anyone please advise? If there's already some groups out there fighting this kind of thing, hook me up?

On Reddit? Probably malicious. You can't really do anything about it, that's why we moved off.

I appreciate the validation there; it's easy to feel crazy or alone on the internet now, and I'm only just beginning to experience it directly. I came here because I hoped I would find people if the same mind and willing to help fight it.

It's a waste of time to fight it. Reddit is corporate-owned and now closed-source. You'll probably find plenty of like-minded people here, but not people who are willing to fight an unwinnable war on one platform.
