It looks quite dope. 30 000 000+ transistors is quite impressive. And the power efficiency is quite something too. RTX 3080 (mobile) performance for an integrated GPU is quite a feat.

Although 5nm chip must have a shitty yield in their foundries. And sucks that it's close source.

what kind of battery life do these things get?

Apple claims they get 17 hours of video playback on the 14" models, and 21 hours on the 16".

No one has reviewed these things yet, but based on my experience with the M1 Air, I'm inclined to believe the numbers.

It works on the regular M1s, but not very usable yet. I don't think they even have an installer available.

I think the notch is going to complicate Linux support, since X11 and Wayland aren't designed to accommodate for huge gaps in the screen. They'll probably end up just cropping the display output to just below the notch, but it goes to show that supporting these machines will be a constant cat-and-mouse game.

The foundries they're using (likely the most advanced ones, in Taiwan) are extremely energy and water-demanding.

'member the freak chip foundries collapse that happened during the start of the pandemic? I do.
