I was rooting for Elon Musk to take on the role, but this will do.

To give a legitimate answer, the meat of his ideology has been debated and some groups of eco-anarchists do like him, and others despise him.

Based on these, he's mainly an anti-left post-civ anarchist who opposes green anarchists (specifically leftists) as much as he opposes the right wing. So, my original comment was an inaccurate meme.

He's a Maoist.

He is now. But his original critiques still resonate with anarchists, ie. his opposition to tech on the grounds of individual freedom.

Sure. People throw out his name to belittle anarchists because he killed people I guess? But he's a homophobic sexist who doesn't even like anarchists, so I've never understood why people call him one as some kind of 'Gotchya!'

Yea, after reading his manifesto, I wouldn't walk away thinking that he's an Anarchist. The fact that Anarchists are opposed to social oppressions that he clings to is an obious sign that he's not.

That would be in Anti-Tech Revolution, right? I believe he says it was a more recent development or something along those lines, though I haven't gotten my hands on a copy.
