I've talked to an American before (I am not myself), and they even supported college and university being this costly. Their reason was that you should invest money to get a good education and not be lazy. It was very... weird.

I see it all the time. People who (mind you had everything laid before them) claim to be self-made and will literally pass off poor people as just 'lazy' or 'stupid'.

Jokes on them, because it's a reflection of how unhappy they are even with their wealth and material items. They still feel the need to put themselves over others.
