Because the sole armed guard present during the latest Florida HS shooting was apparently cowering out of fear, when he should have at least distracted the shooter so he couldn't advance on students any further. That is part of the job he agreed to do. It's sure not a job I would accept.

Remember that for almost the entire 20th century, an armed guard at a public school didn't have to confront a deadly threat. The guard cowering in fear was near retirement age, I'm sure an armed lunatic was not what he signed on to combat.

Outstanding post.

I was taught most of the logical fallacies in school - ad hominem attacks, false dichotomies, and so forth.

But the 'Door in the Face Strategy' and the 'Overton Window' are news to me. I guess those should be taught too.
