L0wes Changes

Submitted by j0hn_d0e in Shoplifting

I checked out a few l0wes and it seems like all of them have contracted a 3rd party security company to replace most of their LP. They sit in a black car parked in front of the store. I haven't seen them patrolling on foot or actually drive around the parking lot, so I think it might just be a lazy deterrence. Any advice or is it not worth the risk?

I will check this out and report back. I would be careful as just about every Lowe's store uses facial recognition. If you are going to lift make sure you can conceal confidently in a blind spot.

Drove through SC, NC, and TN and did not see any Lowe's that had a black car parked. I also did not see anyone I would have defined as LP. This might have been a bad check because I did not run by any major cities.

I will report back during the week as I head N.

According to the security company's website they're licensed to work in 6 states (not near the ones you listed). Also according to reviews from previous employees they require some guards to drive their own car and put the company sticker on the door. The l0wes in my area might be the only stores contracting them or maybe other states have different local companies contracted.

Is home depot definetly safer then? I thought lowes was supposed to be easy

I never assume any chain is safer. It is always a store by store check.

I personally find both to be easy depending on the items.

I haven't checked HD yet but previously they've both been easy as long as you blend in and don't be obvious. L0wes tends to have more blind spots and HD tends to get more crowded. It's always better to check for yourself before lifting because every store is different.
