Sephora will not take returns without a receipt or proof that it was purchased under a loyalty account. Ulta will take them in certain circumstances, but they will only give you what their cost for the item is on a gift card.

Ok but here's the thing. I am not a girl. I'm actually a guy.( I'm only explaining this because genders can play a huge role when shoplifting).I stole a T0m F0rd N01r cologne and B0rberr¥ perfume. My plan is to go to Sephora and say I recieved the T0m F0rd one as a gift. Then go to Ulta and say the B0rberr¥ perfume was a gift for my mother but she didn't enjoy the scent. I just want to know if the machines check the numbers on the box or something. I just want the $200 worth of store credit. What do you recommend I do? Any tips?

This doesn’t matter. Sephulta’s return policies were so lax and generous, that fraud was rampant. You could return used garbage you bought online for pennies on the dollar for full price gift cards. Those days are over.

Sephora will not allow any returns or exchanges without receipt or loyalty proof of purchase. Period. The computer system locks the option out without proof of purchase. Doesn’t matter the excuse.

Ulta is slightly more agreeable, but it’s at the managers discretion and the computer will provide a price of Ulta’s cost for the item without proof of purchase. With some social engineering, a manager that bends rules, and some luck, you could possibly get a better outcome. Just know it may take more than one try.
