How to conceal bigger stuff?

Submitted by MinecraftLad in Shoplifting (edited )

I was thinking if I have a backpack, could I put a jacket inside it and hide the item underneath the jacket so when I show the receipt checker my bag they'll just think it's a jacket since they usually don't ask to take all the stuff out. What do you guys think? Or is it easier to just pretend to be on the phone or something and ignore them?

Also how would I open my bag and hide the item in the shortest time so that if an employee comes around the corner they don't catch me stuffing my bag full of merchandise

Just dont concel lol depending on where you live its getting to be cold so winter jackets allow you to hide bigger items but if its larger than that I wouldn't concel at all just detag if possible so doors dont ding and walk out like a boss

I'm in Australia and spring just started, but it never really gets that cold here so I never get a chance to wear my big winter jacket with all the hidden pockets inside

If you're trying to steal a jacket, why worry about concealment? I just drape one over my arm and walk out. Just be wary of hidden tags. They're sewing them in at some places. You may need to go to a fitting room or hit a bathroom to thoroughly check.

I dont think he wants to steal the jacket but steal an item and put it under his own jacket in his backpack

Yeah, I was just thinking this would be a good idea because if I refuse them to check my bag apparently they could ban me from the store and I want to keep going back

backpacks are usually very suspicious to carry around

Unless you look/act suspicious, or you have one of the massive camping backpacks no one really cares. They wont target you just because you have a backpack.

act/look suspicious does play a role, but some employees are taught to specifically look out for people wearing backpacks. a security guard used to follow me, because i go in there with backpack, wih multipocketed jeans and a hoodie. but i usually go to the sample food area and leave after that. they will eventually ignore you if "act" normal, even if they are suspicious at first.
