Stuff to say at walkouts

Submitted by ElectroKool in Shoplifting (edited )

Yknow when the alarm goes off and LP / Receipt Checkers tell you to stop. I know you aren’t supposed to, but since its so awkward to just ignore them I wna know what people do. Ideas I had were to act like there was an emergency, listening to music, or be troll and say “Sorry I’m not interested, I already have a girlfriend/boyfriend”. Lmk what works for you.

My personal approach to this is basically acting like your 100% deaf...like keeping the same pace walking out/never looking back even once no matter what they say until I'm in my vehicle this approach has never failed me.

Learn a few phrases in a rare language that most people don't understand. If someone calls at you to stop, then you can play dumb. Smile, wave, and say thank you in that foreign language. The greeter will think you don't understand what they're saying. In that moment when they're confused and wondering how to get through to you, get out the door.

The reason I suggest a rare language is because if you try this with Spanish, for instance, there's a very high likelihood that the greeter might speak that language, so they won't be confused. The trick here is to baffle them just long enough for you to make your getaway. Of course, you need to get the hell out of the parking lot before anyone comes after you, but there have been more than enough posts about how to do that.

If I've purchased something like at a dollar General, I just keep walking. Last time it happened it was a tag on laundry detergent that I legit bought with coupons so the cashier didn't even look up.

same before I started lifting I went shopping and the alarm went off and I stood there for a good minute waiting and nobody came so I left

I just look up, confused, And then keep walking. Trite, yes. Effective, yes.

You can also act a bit disgusted, at your phone- which sets these things off sometimes.

I have set off the alarm more times than I can count. I always just act like I am on an angry phone call and keep on walking no matter what. Has worked for me every time :)

Haha I’ve always loved phone methods because most people wont bother you while you’re on it especially when you’re mad

I stop and wait for someone to say something. Most times they don't and I just shrug and keep walking. If they do say something I go along with what they say, if they walk towards me, I'd drop the good and run.

Thanks man. I’ve been thinking of backups for an alarm going off. I want to get a Nintendo switch and if it does go off I’ll put this to good use.

If lp is stopping you that means they whatched what you did. And are 100 % sure you have stolen merchandise. The door greater may stop you for the alarm but no one will be able to physically detain you at any store I know of.

Nah i actually observed this at a target, a security guard actually blocked the entrance of an entire family about to walk out. they obviously caused the towers to beep.

Yeah thats the ideal, but typically its one to two people walking out, sometimes none, with you.
