Self Checkout Lifting technique

Submitted by carhopper in Shoplifting (edited )

I'm not a very experienced shop lifter but I have an interesting strategy that has worked for me a couple times. First Ill pick up a basket (usually at the front of the store by the carts) and go pick up my target item. Then Ill put a couple bags of chips and maybe some other non expensive items over the target item. Now you could either have balls and walk right out or if there is someone at the self checkout station you could buy the less expensive items and fake scan the expensive item. The clerk would really have to be paying attention to catch on to this. Yes you may lose some money buying crap but you will still turn profit. And if you get caught you can easily say you forgot to scan it but this method is almost full proof. You will have receipt walking out and if you act cool nobody will expect a damn thing lol. Just put the expensive item at the bottom of the bag so nobody can see it. Obviously this only works at places with self checkout like Walmart and other big stores

I did this with 3 personal hygiene items yesterday. Removed an 88 cent tag from an off brand Tylenol and swiped that 3 diff times. Takes some handiwork but it can be done. $10 for tampons, $8 for body wash and $18 for leave in conditioner...i think not.

dependson which stores, alot of stores now are wising up and now stashing at least 1 employee near self checkouts, and lp person nearby just in case this situation happens.

What about those self checkouts that get pissy if there is an "unexpected item in the bagging area"?

Not to burst you bubble, but this is pretty common knowledge on this forum at least.

Its just for people that dont know lol its a lot better than stashing in a blind spot and coming back the next day

Fair enough, I do like staging more than straight walking out depending how expensive it is especially if it's best buy. They tried stopping me in the store right after I had staged a MacBook behind some gaming keyboards, and if I had the Mac book ( which was behind a locked case) I would have been screwed. I picked it up today when security was on break with my booster bag so methods are really situation and store dependent if you think about it.

I'm about to head out to Best Buy today. What time was your LP on lunch? I know it may not be the same with my store, but there's still the chance

1-1:30ish, I got there at 1 and I had left at 1:40 cuz I got a call and ended up spending 30 mins standing by the entrance but even when I left no Lp.

True it depends Definitely for stores like that it is best to stage items but if youre just stealing headphones or some smaller shit from walmart you dont really need to stage its easy to just stash it in a bag with some chips.
