I just tested it out. I bought a $700 tablet at 6pm and returned it at 9:30 pm and they did not open the box or even ask me any questions. I told them that I needed a different color that I knew they didn't have in stock. I paid with a debit card though, which is why they let me return it after 9pm and without a manager present.
So I'm going to get e prepaid debit card when I do it for real, so it looks less suspicious.

They won’t look in the box every time.

Great way to get things that are locked behind counter. Seal it up so it looks unopened. That way if they look inside you can claim you had no idea and never even opened the box

This is exactly why I'm not too scared about getting caught. I have a shrink wrapping set-up so I can re-shrink wrap it so it looks like I never even opened it. So if they do open the box I can claim that I never opened it and there would be no proof that I did. Secondly, Walmart employees have a history of stealing from their own store so there'd be reasonable doubt.

Ya they definitely need proof to prosecute or even accuse u of stealing. AP will get in big trouble if they do so much as accuse you.
