Shoplifting noob

Submitted by Stealformyson in Shoplifting

I just started shoplifting. I'll explain myself a bit and then add questions i have.

So i visted r/shoplifting a bit. I was the type of person in awe of how people did it. Some hauls were simply massive. But myself never stole a thing my whole life. Not one. Recently we've been put through the ringer financially. I was gonna explain how i started lifting but that was really long haha. Im not good at short and sweet.

Basically i stole socks for my son. And this second tome yesterday i stole some newborn mittems, a onesie (not om a hanger) a sippy cup and some forks. Well the first time was quick and simple and sucessful. My son has a diaper bag its basically just a kids backpack. I put them in there went to the bathroom tl change him and threw away the tags.

The second time didn't go so well. The cup was harder to slip in my bag. People walked by twice when trying to put stuff in my bag. I did it once in front of a camera (an over head one mind you) i tried to take the tags off in the bathroom and the sippy cup tag was loud and so i left it on there. So i didn't feel it went sucessfully. I left with the items but am scared people saw me.

Naturally becuase i have a child im scared of getting caught but its nice to get him new things when i can afford them.

So basically with my method bieng put items in cart. Put them in bag. Go to bathroom take tags off. Whats the best way to do this? Im worried about bieng caught by cameras even though i try to go to blind spots. And im worried about people finding the tags in the bathroom and like upping security or something? So far i've only lifted frkm walmart.

Also whats the best places to lift from? I've been considering trying my local salvation army. (Yeah i'm a shit person) and other stores. But i have no odea what level of security or the level of care thier employees have.

Any advice much appreciated. If im doing it wrong or could be doing it better i'd love to know. Right now im only stealing for my son. But eventually would love to move up to stealing shoes for him. And one day clothes for me and shoes for me if i get good enough. I was thinking with shoes for him i could bring a knife in my bag to cut the tags off? Anyways sorry im not a great writer.

I wouldn't feel bad about taking from The Starvation Army as they have a long history of predatory actions against the public. I think providing for your children is more important than them continuing their shit, so I have no sympathy for them.

If you haven't already checked it out, the wiki has a lot of really helpful info on various places and what to expect when stealing from them. Good luck!

Oh also i feel like i need to be buying stuff when i steal. So its less suspicious. Is this true? I feel konda limited.in that way but i think its probally better makes me do it less for less suspicion and makes it less suspicious when i leave that i have the bag but also stuff i bought. They have the greeters.

I personally don't or very rarely buy stuff when I lift. I don't because it gives LP or employees potentially more time to ID me, rewatch tape, set me up, etc. In and out as quickly as possible.

To your other points don't rip tags off. the only ones you need to worry about are like RFID stuff or raised white strips on packaging.

Walmart is pretty easy (depends on the area) grocery stores are simple (again depends on the area) and Dollar stores are a cake walk.

Again really depends on the area. I recently moved to a mid size city that has virtually zero crime, zero homeless population, and very much so middle-class community. Stealing here is an absolute cake walk, even the walmart as LP in this town is virtually non-existent. I haven't bought groceries here in over a month that's how easy it is. So again, depends on the area.

I wish i could get area specific to know. Its suburban if thst helps. But not super suburban we have our areas that are seedier than others.

Not that i think that helps.

Walmart is a great place. There is no lp after 10 in just about every store. Also, I would find a blind spot, and stage the items in the blind spot underneath the actual display that separates the isle. Come back and bag it up in a day or 2. Make sure no ones watching when your about to conceal too. I don’t care how sus you look looking around. And no you really don’t have to buy things. They can’t bust you without seeing you conceal merchandise. They get in a lot of trouble. Also Walmart uses cameras that aren’t hidden, but aren’t noticeable. They put them on the edge of the top shelves. There’s a couple types of shelf cameras they use. Another camera is on the ceiling. It’s a white cylinder that blends in, and is hard to see if you aren’t looking for it.

Thanks i'll try to go after 10 as much as possible but that is a bit late with the toddler and all

By stage, I mean hide the items. Also lp will hide behind displays or look through the peg hook holes on the neighboring isle to try to catch you concealing. I’ve ben doing this since I was 16. I’m 25 now and not once have I been caught. Try to use your purse instead of a bag if you can.

Whats everyones diffrent methods of concealment? For example i just read the wiki and saw 5 below was easy to lift from. But for my location they have no bathroom. So bringing in my sons bag wouldnt make sense and would probally stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe i should get a purse?

And then from there i have my eye on one item thats bigger. Sonid love to hear diffrent concealment methods. Will stalk this forum latwr when i get a chance.

In 5 below, just go in an aisle and shove it in the purse. It’s like a dollar store, fill your bag, go dump it in car and go back for more.

It’s literally like that, the wiki is dead accurate in 5 below.

The tags dont make the alarms go off only the raised white thick ones do if you know what I'm saying, all the items your talking about more than likely arent tagged so the whole bathroom removing tag process is not needed. Also you definitely dont need to buy stuff when you lift BUT if you come into the store with a kid and a diaper bag shop around then leave without buying something thats kinda sketch because what parent wants to deal with a kid in a store then buy nothing? So I'd suggest coming without him, also I assure you that they wont up security because of you or even notice the items missing your such small time to some people that unless LP sees you hide a product you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks :) i guess part of my brain is worried theyll search my bag and i can say its my sons stuff though i fully plan to refuse them searching my bag.

I dont really have a purse. Just the bag i use as his diaper bag. And i feel like whose gonna suspect a lady with a baby haha. But yeah ill skip that process going forward. Would the kids shoes have alarms? Idk fully what does and doesnt if its hidden in tags and such.

Thats my thinking. Im a small fry noone cares. Just worried if they do. Im such a noob.

I'm a bit late in my reply, but thanks so much :) its really scary for me obvs becuase i have a small child and don't want to get caught but if i wasnt so desprate i wouldn't be doing this. I have asked a few more questions on this forum already becuase i want to become better at it. To where i don't have to worry.

Where did you steal?

That is also very important. For Walmart. Unless it’s electronics.

For clothing. I don’t think the tags will cause alarm to go off. Just stuff and go. Stuff & Go. This is what I do sometimes. Get some stuff throw them in cart. Then throw 2 boxes of water on top of it xD covering it then self checkout I go.

Walmart right now.

With water in self checkout dont you have to lift to scan then theyd see it? Its a fairly large walmart. I get away with stuff at night becuase less associates and people around but always a person at self checkout. Some of walmarts clothes have security tags though so hoping to get something to remove those.

Hehehe. Then I got the answer for you.

There is magnets in Home Depot called neodymium magnets. Very very strong. Get a few packs. I got 4 packs(3 magnets inside) in total 12 all together.

Then you remove like this https://youtu.be/-7nz_c_850w

It took me like a 30 second- a minute to remove them. Or you can get wire cutters and cut them. Might cut a bit of clothes while you’re at it. But hey. Free stuff what am I complaining
