How to be brazen and bold?

Submitted by SuperDave in Shoplifting

Has anyone here ever walked out with the alarm going off? Or with the employees asking to check your bag? I’m not brazen enough to keep walking and ignore it. What should I do? I want to get better.

Walk out with a group of people so you can ignore the alarm like you're sure it was somebody else. You could also body conceal and just flash your bag and leave.

Yes. You keep walking. You either pretend to take a distracting phone call, or frown as though the alarm is inconveniencing you. With door checkers, you are not obligated to let them look at your stuff. Flash your receipt and act like you're in a hurry.

Have walked out and the gates didn't go off. But I think they can put it on silent (it msgs security).

Either walk out with a group, or keep on walking like you paid for the item.

There was a question in the lp sub on reddit asking if you can keep walking if the alarm goes off. There were about 30 responses and not one of them said you would in any way be physically stopped for ignoring the alarm, or ignoring a bag checker. I’ll find it and post the link.

I know you explicitly stated that you're not brazen enough to keep walking, but that's literally all you have to do. Keep walking. They literally can't detain you unless they saw you conceal.

Turning back and letting them detain you is a conscious effort.

What would you do personally? If they ask you to stop? Or an alarm goes off?

I would literally not even flinch/look back/speed up walking/or say anything and simply continue on my way...I guess assuming your not doing a full cart walkout or something huge then this is the best method. It really is all in how you act cause if you look guilty then you are and if you don't then other customers and employees almost always will not even pay you much attention.

And I know for sure they aren’t seeing me steal on cam or in person. It’s just an employee or manager by the door
