Laptop (staples)

Submitted by 0siris in Shoplifting

Been looking at laptops at a staples with generally weak security. Only problem is not sure how to remove the white wire that's attached to the laptop. Pretty sure is alarm but not 100%. Any suggestions?

Its not a normal tag that can be removed with a magnet of some sort. and its definitely an alarm. the alarm is controlled by a remote. your going to have to destroy it by pouring water on it or something. You may be better off picking open the display case and getting your laptop that way.

No, I think I didn't described it properly. The laptops are out in the open for display, there's a metal bracket on the underside with hole for a white wire I assume is connected to an alarm, and the hole to too small to unplug the wire, which will probably set it off anyway. The wire is connected to one electronic that all the other laptops in the aisle are connected too.

Is it impossible to disable?

yes. you need a remote that only they have. I recommend picking open the lock and taking one from the display case. locks can be picked open just as fast as a key can open them

Sorry but I'm a bit lost, do you mean getting a key from the case or the laptop. Also, would you have any reference for me to learn lock picking. Thanks

Get the laptop from the cabinet where they are stored for customers to buy. Just pick open the lock, if you take a key they will re key everything. The lock can be picked just as fast as a key can open it and without much skill. It’s very easy.

I live in Canada so it might different, but I don't see a cabinet for laptops just for customers, just the display laptops. And I've never learned how to lockpicking.
