RFID tag & chip

Submitted by Uproot in Shoplifting

The RFID chips that you found on clothes, books and electronic devices... they are to detect you at the doorway, not inside the store. Example:

These type of RFID chips are the most commonly used in bookstores, drug marts, electronic markets and clothe stores. They are widely produced, and completely useless against shoplifters. There are 3 methods you can deal with them:

  • Rip it off, of course. This is the most simple but it damage your product's package, example a book or a can of baby formula.

  • Hammer it. RFID chip can be destroyed by direct impact. Hammer is preferably the best tool to quick disposing the chip.

  • Tin foil, my conspirators. Wrap your products tightly with tin foils leaving no open. Or if you could construct or get your hands on a Faraday bag, this works too.

I always use a faraday bag now. The alarm went off because of a hidden tag once. They can’t detain you just for the alarm going off but I got scared and pepper sprayed the 2 guys that approached me, and I ran. They didn’t chase.

lol. that's the worst thing you can do. If you get caught, don't resist. Fuck, that's just adding charges to yourself.

I'm surprised they didn't fuck you up for pepper spraying them.

They couldn’t see. Also it was just the alarm with no proof I stole something. They were yelling and cussing tho. Lol

It isn’t a good idea to do that usually. And if you do you need to bolt. They probably won’t be able to see to run after you. I just took a power tool that wasn’t very expensive. I’m young too so who knows. If I cooperated they may have just let me go with a warning.

I heard you can also disrupt the circuit by slicing through it, or ripping it in half. I would advise not to use any kind of force to get away, it will only incur assault burglary charges. Pepper spray is one of them, threatening people with firearms r weapons is another.
