I assume you're trying to create a Faraday cage? Yes, that should work. Just make sure the gaps between the wires on your Faraday cloth are smaller than the wavelength emitted by the RF gates.

Also, do not let that Blu-Ray player connect to the internet. If whatever store you stole it from is diligent, they may report the serial number of that Blu-Ray player as stolen. Later, if that player connects to the internet, and tries to "phone home" to see if there are any firmware updates, it may send its serial number with it. Some automated system may recognize that that serial number was reported as stolen, and that could end up with police at your door. I don't know how sophisticated these anti-theft systems are, but I would not take that chance, if I were you. Just have it be an offline Blu-Ray player.

It’s rated for 100 wavelength. What are the gates wavelength?

Actually, now that I looked into it, pretty much any Faraday bag should work. According to this website, some RF anti-shoplifting towers have frequencies of up to 13.56 MHz. Convert that frequency to a wavelength, and you get... 22.1 meters. Even the shittiest Faraday bag would be able to block that out. So, as long as they're only using RF towers, and as long as you don't leave any gaps when you wrap it up, you should be fine.

Now that I've looked it up, yes, it looks like aluminum foil would indeed work. You just need to make sure that the product is completely wrapped in it - small gaps could let the radio waves leak through, and trigger the alarm.

I don't know. All the Faraday cages I've seen have been actual cages composed of crisscrossing wires. I'm not sure if a solid plane of conductive metal would have the same effect. I'll do some research on this, and let you know what I find.

Walmart has really cut back on security lately. It’s pretty safe to steal there now.

I heard Walmart reorganized. Making more AP positions. They actually upped their game recently giving more authority to lower positions. For example door greeters and CSR's are yellow vests(AP) now.
