does this really fall under "shit tankies do" though

i mean aside from "tankie" being a wholly inappropriate word to use when talking about the actual politics of a marxist-leninist state (as opposed to their apologists on the internet and in western political circles), i don't know a single MLM who approves of the current PRC

What about the MLMs in China that are fine with it? Or all the party members that voted for this? They're a lot more important than whatever Western MLMs you're talking about.

well neo-maoism is still an underground movement in china and there certainly aren't too many maoists in the party's leadership (or really any genuine maoists to speak of) - they're also pretty critical of the state of the PRC right now. but that aside it just kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth to call an actual authoritarian regime "tankies" when i'm more used to that word describing 18 year old pseudo-marxists on the internet. maybe i'm being pedantic but it kind of feels like it's rather trivialising the issue?
