TFW your very life being dependent upon being "polite" is somehow a reasonable reality.

TFW it really doesn't matter how polite you are to cops and that they'll shoot you for twitching the wrong way and get acquitted because they "feared for their life".

TFW you don't expect the least awful presidential candidate say ACAB or express any sort of anti-cop sentiment, but see him decide to shoot himself in the fucking foot by saying one of the worst possible things he could.

I can't believe I haven't set aside my principals to let this guy take charge of the state apparatus or to give my money to his campaign. He would've gotten better reception for answering with "I don't know".

white people all over FB

These are words that always produce something great when put together.

They honestly think this is about a lack of respect.

It doesn't surprise me to see them accuse dissenters of being uppity.

Wasn't Sanders the one that initilly coined 'All lives matter'?

Iirc, a group of BLM protestors went to his really and ask him to say the words to which he responded like I mentioned above.

Edit: It was presidential candidate and governor for the Democratic party Martin O'Malley.

I bet there are more than a handful of leftist that deem such a group "divisive" for tainting the event with "identity politics". Same shit, different year.

Martin O'Malley

Following the Irish-American tradition of being cop lover.

Just gonna go ahead and lock this. Two people doing whatever they're doing like this isn't helping anybody and is taking up way more space than it needs to.

If admins want to actually read that whole pile and lop off whatever they feel like so this thing sinks sooner rather than later, that suits me. At a glance, some kind of ban action will be appropriate too.

“I would respect what they are doing so that you don’t get shot in the back of the head, but I would also be very mindful of the fact that as a nation, we have got to hold police officers accountable for the actions that they commit,” he said. “I would be very cautious if you were my son in terms of dealing with that police officer, but I would also defend my rights and know my rights and make sure if possible that the police officer’s camera is on what goes on.”

I still don't see what's wrong with the answer in full - it's just about the best you could get out of a politician - the point seems to be that police can shoot you in the back of the head, so you'd want to be very careful in interacting with them, not that being 'polite' is the key. Whilst other candidates were just wanking off their hero officers.

You, me, and Bernie are technically in agreement there, as disgusting as it is to you and I. The point isn't what it should be, but what it is.

I'm fully aware that they'll shoot you anyway, but he was asked what advice he would give his son, specifically. It seems like sound advice for a police encounter, no? At the least, it lowers the chance of being shot in the back of the head, as opposed to screaming "fuck the police" or something.

And I'm aware that he 'could have' but let's be real as presidential candidate he couldn't have. At least not while staying on the stage. And that he'll order the national guard in if there's ever any threat to capital.

Just want to also note that I don't think it was a good answer, but I've seen this exact line pushed in propaganda for Biden and I think, of all the answers given, Bernie's was the best on the stage. Just seems like there's better examples of "the worst liberals in the world" right there.

im fully aware innocent people get shot in the back of the head while following orders regularly - does this mean you'd tell your son to, if he gets pulled over, charge the officer while screaming "ACAB"?
