Also, if you look at the history of race in the US, and specifically in US court law, "white" or "Caucasian" by definition has changed so many times it can never truly used against the system. When the definition happened to include Sikh people, one sued the government to get the rights of a "Caucasian" at the time, and the courts ruled that the average white person wouldn't consider a Sikh white, so...nope.

Also pretty specific to where you live. IIRC South Africa had it as the opposite, where even a little European blood made you "white", which helped keep native-born people separated from Europeans and their families.
